Arcano’s Take on the Private Equity Secondaries Surge: Europe Is Just Getting Started

The private equity secondary market is booming, with volumes surpassing $160 billion last year. But according to Ricardo Miró-Quesada, Partner and Head of Private Equity at Arcano Capital, this is only the beginning—especially in Europe.

In a video interview with 0100 Conferences, Miró-Quesada highlighted Arcano’s focus on secondaries, driven by rising demand for liquidity and the growing use of GP-led transactions. With many post-2020 funds soon entering the market, he sees strong momentum ahead.

While the U.S. leads in volume, Europe’s share is expanding quickly. As transparency improves, secondaries are shifting from a liquidity fix to a strategic tool for institutional investors.

Arcano, with over €12 billion in AUM, is leveraging its deep market relationships to capitalize on what Miró-Quesada calls “just the tip of the iceberg” in the evolving secondaries landscape.
