Budapest to Host Leading Global Private Market Investors Conference at the 0100 Emerging Europe

Budapest, January 15th, 2025 – Key private equity and venture capital investors, along with top voices from Hungary’s innovation landscape, gathered for the official launch of the 0100 Emerging Europe conference. This international event, scheduled for May 14-16, aims to spotlight and enhance Hungary’s position as an innovation hub in the region.

The NIU’s role is to support initiatives that facilitate meetings and cooperation between actors, whether national or international. The Zero One Hundred Conferences platform is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the international connections of Hungarian start-ups and investors and, through this, to raise the international visibility of the Hungarian innovation ecosystem,” said László Bódis, Deputy State Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Innovation and Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian Innovation Agency (NIU), at the conference’s launch event.

At Zero One Hundred Conferences, our mission is to create meaningful connections and foster the exchange of knowledge within the private market investment space. By bringing together local and international investors, our events play a pivotal role in growing and consolidating investor ecosystems in the regions we serve,” said Pavol Fuchs, CEO of Zero One Hundred Conferences. “We are proud to see our conferences acting as catalysts for innovation, collaboration, and investment, empowering communities and enhancing their global visibility”, concluded.

The event brought together key players from Hungary’s leading investment funds such as Nemzeti Tőkeholding, PortfoLion, HVCA, THBE, and OXO Holdings to discuss “The Private Equity and Venture Investor Ecosystem in Emerging Europe: Positioning Hungary as an Innovation Hub for the Region” a panel session moderated by László Korányi, Deputy CEO of the NIU.

We need to make our ecosystem more embedded in the European startup/VC scene, build connections, and develop deeper business know-how,” said László Hradszki, CEO of HiVentures, a member of the National Capital Holding Group, emphasizing the need to strengthen Hungary’s position in the global investment landscape. Péter Tánczos, Chairman of the Hungarian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (HVCA) and Managing Partner at Euroventures Capital, highlighted the scarcity of international institutional investors with proven track records and a deep understanding of the unique opportunities presented by investing in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) from Budapest. He commended Zero One Hundred Conferences for “establishing an effective platform that connects limited partners (LPs) with fund managers in specific markets, facilitating networking among key stakeholders within the ecosystem, including professional service providers, current and prospective portfolio companies, and policymakers.”

Panelists agreed that while Hungary is a unique source of innovative technological talent, Budapest also offers an exceptionally attractive living and working environment. Its excellent infrastructure supports international team members who bring the sales expertise needed to complete the winning recipe for successful growth stories.

Hungary, with close to 10 million inhabitants, is actually a relatively large country in the Central European region and has one of the largest numbers of startups. Budapest, with 1.7 million people, is a major city in this region with a favorable business climate and good quality of life for ambitious startup founders,” noted László Hradszki.

“More than 30 years of experience in venture capital investment demonstrates that the key bottleneck—and the foundation of a successful startup — is management talent. Hungary has a longstanding tradition of developing solutions to complex technological challenges in resource-constrained and rapidly changing environments. When combined with international growth ambitions and strong sales skills, this has proven to be the winning formula for our successful companies,” added Péter Tánczos.

The 0100 Emerging Europe will be held from May 14-16th at the Hungarian House of Music. Registration can be done here. For media inquiries please contact laura@0100conferences.com.
